Why foiling, not printing
Most personalised gifts in this category are inkjet-printed: a digital file goes onto a flatbed and ink lands on the surface. It looks great on day one, but ink fades in UV, scratches off at the edges, and never quite reads as 'permanent.'
Foiling is different. A heated die presses real metallic foil into the card, fusing it physically with the surface. The foil isn't pigment — it's a thin metal layer bonded to the fibre. There's nothing to fade and nothing to peel.
It's the same finish you see on foil-pressed wedding invites and the gold-stamped book covers in the National Library's heritage collection. Pieces from the 1970s still read sharp.
300GSM Black Velvet Card
The card stock matters. 300GSM is the heavy end of card weight — about three times the thickness of a regular postcard. It doesn't bend in a frame and it sits flat on a table without curling.
Velvet describes the surface. The card's black isn't a print or a coating — the card stock is naturally black through and through, with a soft, light-absorbing finish that makes the foil pop without competing for attention. Light hits the foil and reflects off; light hits the velvet card and gets absorbed.
It's the only material we use for this product. Standard across every order — no other option to pick, nothing to mismatch.
Three foils, four frames
Foil colours: Gold, Rose Gold, Silver. Pick under the colour swatches on the variant tile. Real foil in all three — Gold reads warm, Rose Gold reads soft and pink-toned, Silver reads cool and reflective.
Frame finishes: Black, White, Wood, and Gold. The card slides into a standard photo frame the same way any A-size print would. Black and White ship in every size; Wood drops A3; Gold ships A3 + A4 only — heavier mouldings cost more to manufacture so the smaller sizes don't make production sense.
Mix any foil with any frame. Gold foil on a Black frame for the classic look; Silver foil on a Wood frame reads more Scandinavian; Rose Gold on White is the most-ordered combination for weddings.

A3 (297×420mm) — wall feature size. Reads from across the room. Available in Black, White, and Gold frames (Wood doesn't ship at A3).
A4 (210×297mm) — tabletop default. Sits on a console, study desk, or shelf. Available in all four frames. The most-ordered size.
