Side 1 and Side 2 — what goes where
The strongest combinations keep one side public and one side private: their name out front, the date or the inside joke on the back. Each side carries its own font, so a clean serif can face the world while a script holds the personal line.
Keep it short. Fifteen characters sounds tight until you realise every great engraving — a name, a date, "always" — fits in ten.
